The Rebellious Bird
Author unknown
There once was a bird which refused to fly south for the winter. His friends tried to convince it, but it could not be persuaded. Finally, his friends flew away without him.
Shortly
thereafter, it started to get bitter cold. The small bird began to shiver. After a while it decided, it had made a
mistake and started to fly towards south.
But it was too late!
It didn't take long and ice started to form on its wings. The bird grew more and more tired, until it finally fell to the ground, directly into a cow pasture.
There it lay, freezing and convinced, that now it would die. But as it lay there, a cow passed by and pooped on it. The dung warmed the bird's body and wings, and as the bird realized it was not going to die after all, it was so happy, that it began to sing out loudly. A cat, which just happened to walk by, heard the singing, dug it out, and ate it.
Moral of the story:
- Not everyone who dumps on you is necessarily your enemy.
- Not everyone who gets you out of a pile of dung is necessarily your friend.
- And if you're warm and happy in a pile of dung, then keep your mouth shut.
